Sunday Scribbles, NΒ°4

Hello & welcome to a new instalment of Sunday Scribbles. In this post, I talk about my 40 Days of Blogging experience, how I stepped outside of my comfort zone more this past couple of months and I share the things that made me happy.

It’s been such a long time since I wrote a Sunday Scribble post. I even went back and read them all the freshen up my mind. Gladly, I still like the feel and content of those posts, so I definitely should take the time to write them more often. πŸ™‚

40 Days of Blogging

It’s been a very lazy SundayΒ and my plan was to get a ton of writing done for next week. This, obviously, didn’t happen, although, I did film a video showing my workspace. All this blogging, even though it’s a bit stressful, also really helps me getting back into blogging. Planning and writing the posts of the last couple of days have definitely been fun.

I really like that I’m not doing this alone. Last time I attempted a 30 Days of Blogging challenge I didn’t have a Facebook Group where other people were voicing their feelings and doubts about the project. Just reading about it already helps. So yeah, I feel positive about this challenge. It already makes me feel inspired again and I have at least 40 blogpost ideas for the following days. Are any of you participating? How are things going?

Stepping outside of my comfort zone + lessening the amounts of fucks given

With the new year and my new birthday challenge, I feel very motivated to step out of my comfort zone and to do Things. For example, a couple of days ago I put a quote design I made on Society6. In the past (and still a tiny bit now) I would be worrying about not having enough products (only 1 at the moment), the design not being good enough (I’ll only get there if I actually start making and finishing things, not by dreaming of the perfect collection) and if people would be laughing with the crappy designs I put up because I’m not good enough (I’ll probably never know and if so, I can’t change that). True, I didn’t promote my new store yet, but hey, baby steps! Also, I ordered myself a pouch to see what the quality is like.

Other things I did: I send in an application for the Adobe Creative Residency of 2017. Chances are low I’ll get this (and that I have to move to Germany for a year), but that wasn’t enough of a reason to at least try, right? I also got filmed by a whole film production crew last week, making me an actor in a promotional video of a political party. I really wanted to see how I would react for a camera, with a crew of people I don’t know.

And guess what? It felt totally chill, even though all my colleagues had to listen to my 45 retries of one sentence. I didn’t feel ashamed once. Afterwards, I realised that starring in a promotional video of this sorts might anger some people, but, I don’t think that me appearing in this video hurts anybody, so I probably shouldn’t be worrying about this.

I’m reading “The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a Fuck” at the moment and even though I think this book isn’t well written (and maybe should be a 50 page essay instead of a book), I do notice I’m more conscious about the amounts of fucks I give and the amount of worrying I do about people’s opinions. Don’t misunderstand, I still value the opinions of people I know (or of the people who leave comments ;)), but I think I should stop worrying about the possible opinions of people I don’t know and will never meet.

  • The days are definitely getting longer and sunnier
  • Verrrrry slowly getting to know my new point-and-shoot camera
  • Sticking to things and seeing them pay off! I’ve followed the 5:2 for a couple of months now and I can see myself change slowly but surely

Work in progress

  • With 40 Days of Blogging I have tons of things planned. I just need to write them. A couple of posts have been on my to-do list since this time last year.
  • I finished my 30 Days of Lettering and now I want to digitise some of those sketches.

Things I enjoyed

That’s it for this Sunday Scribbles. Tell me how you’ve been. Did you also do something uncharacteristic this week?

Hier ook volop aan het bloggen! In het weekend heb ik wel één en ander vooruit geschreven en gefotografeerd, omdat ik daar anders geen tijd voor ga hebben. More ideas than time…
